How to get to Bansko
Flights
Various airlines offer direct flights from UK airports such as Manchester, London Luton, London Heathrow and London Gatwick to Sofia. Flying time is around 3 to 3 1/2 hours. Indirect flights are also available from other major airports such as Birmingham.
Low cost airlines:
Easy Jet now fly from Gatwick to Sofia. Wizz air fly from Luton.
Other possible airports to consider are the Greek airports of Thessaloniki and Kavala. In summer this enables you to combine a Bulgarian mountain holiday with a relaxing stay on the Greek coast.
It is advisable to book very early for peak periods such as Christmas and New Year, February half-term weeks and the Easter holidays. We can help with suggested routes/details of flight agencies if required.
Car Hire
We can give you advice on car hire companies, and detailed instructions on getting to Bansko from Sofia. The journey takes roughly 2.30 - 3 hours and, once out of Sofia, the roads are very good.
Transfers
There are a number of companies offering independent transfers from Sofia Airport to Bansko. A driver will meet you from your flight and the journey time is around 2 1/2 hours. The cost depends on the number of passengers. Once you have booked accommodation through us we can provide you with details of companies we have used/other recommended companies and even arrange a transfer for you if you prefer. If you use our resort representatives for your transfers, they will bring the apartment key with them so there will be no need to pick them up on your way to the Vihren.
There are also regular buses which run from Sofia to Bansko, however, you will have to get across Sofia to the bus station, so it is not advised if you have much luggage.
