Bansko Skiing and Snowboarding

Picture
From the moment you step into the modern gondola lift, just 150m from the Vihren complex, you are whisked upwards into one of the prettiest and well run ski areas in Eastern Europe, up to Bunderishka at 1635m. Chair lifts then go up to Shillgarnika at 1725m, and on up to Todorka peak at 2600m.

Ideal for families, beginners and improvers, and with the famous black 'Tomba' run to exercise even the most skillful snow enthusiast, Bansko's great snow record never fails to please.

Bulgaria is fantastic for skiers on a budget:  The Ulen Ski and Snowboard school has english-speaking instructors and there are great beginners all-in packages available including lift pass, ski/snowboard hire and daily instruction. There also several other companies offering excellent private tuition.

Once on the mountain, there are a variety of affordable mountain restaurants and self-service snack bars at the list bases.  Further up the mountain colourful 'tents' provide a welcome rest and hot & cold drinks & snacks.

For most of the season it is possible to ski right back down to Bansko town on the well-maintained ski-road.  This is also floodlit at night once or twice a week for a very special skiing experience.

Apres Ski

Back in the town there is a wide range of apres-ski activities.  There are numerous bars, discos and nightclubs for the more energetic amongst you!  A new Ice Rink lies between the Vihren complex and the town, just a couple of minutes away.  There is a 10-pin bowling alley in the Strahite Hotel next to the Ice Rink, and numerous shops to browse in.
